History Of Cricket World Cup (1996)

The 1996 Cricket World Cup was the sixth version of the tournament organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It was the second World Cup to be hosted by India and Pakistan and for the first time by Sri Lanka. The tournament was called as the Wills World Cup by the name of the official sponsors.
This world cup was full of drama Australia and West Indies refused to send their teams to Sri Lanka because of Central Bank Bombing Incident which vowed them with security concerns.
India the hosts lost out to Sri Lanka (the winners) in the semi final and Australia beat West Indies to reach final before they got beaten by the champions Sri Lanka. The final was played at Gadafi stadium Lahore in Pakistan.
